Join us for CLA's Northeast Colorado Lunch & Learn on May 21st in Sterling, CO at the Logan County CSU Extension Office. The livestock producer education seminar will include a presentation on safe silage construction tips and tricks and a protein market outlook. Lunch will be provided to those who register in advance.

***Safety Group: This meeting will offer two credits to safety group members for the current policy period.

11:00     Safety Training: Silage Safety and Construction Angel Aguilar, PhD, Director of Training and Development, Lallemand Animal Nutrition

Angel Aguilar received his Ph.D. in ruminant nutrition from University of California – Davis and a master's degree from Texas Tech University. He has been employed by Lallemand Animal Nutrition, North America since 2012.

Aguilar received his BSc in animal science from the Instituto Tecnologico de Monterrey, MSc in ruminant nutrition from Texas Tech University, and PhD in nutrition from the University of California–Davis. He has been certified by ARPAS and by the board of ACAN in nutrition. Aguilar is a member of ARPAS, ACAN, the American Society of Animal Science, and American Dairy Science Association. Previously, he worked as a nutrition specialist for Vita Plus and as the director of industry relations for the Western Dairy Association. For more than 20 years he worked for Eli Lilly & Co. in a variety of positions that made use of his many areas of expertise, spanning business management to scientific research. Aguilar was also an associate professor in the Animal Science Department and Colorado State University.

12:00      Market Outlook Dave Weaber, Animal Protein Analyst, TerrainAg

Dave Weaber is Terrain’s animal protein analyst. Dave’s career analyzing the animal and meat production business has spanned many sectors of the meat supply chain, from primary production, slaughter and processing to the retail grocery and food service sectors. His career’s work has covered the beef, pork and poultry industries. 

Dave has experience translating broad market and supply chain trends into actionable strategy for cattle and pork producers. He has served as a trustee of the Colorado 4-H Youth Fund and on the National Pork Board Retail Advisory Committee. Dave earned his BS and MS in animal science and ruminant nutrition from Colorado State University.
