1:00 Managing Farm Stress so Stress Doesn’t Manage Us, Chad Reznicek MA, LPC Colorado AgrAbility Project
Agricultural producers, workers, and their family members face unique stressors and risk factors related to physical and behavioral health issues, including higher rates of suicide. Our rural communities face barriers to addressing these needs related to accessibility, affordability, acceptability, and receptivity to services. Understanding our brains’ response to stress can help us better develop internal and external resources for managing stress. Participants will also learn about resources for behavioral health and wellness that are designed specifically for rural and agricultural communities and the important role that community members can play in supporting each other.
Chad Reznicek is the Behavioral Health Specialist with the Colorado AgrAbility Project and committed to helping expand and improve behavioral health support and resources in rural communities. Prior to joining the AgrAbility Team, Chad spent 20 years as a licensed therapist, providing behavioral health services in diverse settings with special focus areas in suicide prevention, trauma, mood disorders, and substance abuse. Both of Chad’s parents were raised on farms and he grew up in a small town in central Nebraska with a deep respect for agriculture as the heart of our rural communities.
