Rural Fire Mitigation - A fire safety and prevention discussion.

Russ Kane has been the Fire Chief of the Galeton Fire Protection District in Weld County since April of 2018. A Colorado transplant, Chief Kane has served and lived in NJ, NV, and CA fire service as well deployments across the American West with public agencies and the Union Pacific RR since 1981. Russ grew up on his Grandparent’s farm in central New Jersey and is an Aggie, graduating from an original land grant college, Cook College, Rutgers University. He moved to CO from NV in 2016 to marry his wife Lizzy whom he met as a freshman at Rutgers in 1984 and reconnected online. He is also a Certified Chief Fire Officer and Certified Wildfire Mitigation Specialist. He and his family embrace and love western living, fishing, hunting, winter sports, and rodeo.


Farm Disaster Preparedness - How to prepare for disasters and how CDA's Emergency Management program can help.

Dan Frazen is the Agriculture Emergency Coordinator for the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA). He leads the emergency management and critical infrastructure protection programs for CDA's eight (8) divisions. Dan is also the primary for Emergency Support Function (ESF) 11 Agriculture and Natural Resources for the State of Colorado. Dan has been working in emergency management and disaster response since the 2013 Colorado Floods. He is a retired law enforcement officer, with twenty-four (24) years of service, and he is a qualified Liaison Officer on the Eastern Colorado Incident Management Team (ECIMT). Dan is a proud graduate of the Colorado State University (CSU), he is a Colorado Certified Emergency Manager, and he recently completed FEMA's National Emergency Management Advanced Academy (NEMAA). He lives in Weld County with his wife and two (2) children; he and his family enjoy camping and movie nights.
